This UX Research webinar series, spanning five sessions, will provide detailed explanations on planning and conducting usability studies, selecting research methods that align with goals, effectively analyzing and synthesizing data, constructively sharing research findings, and building and scaling research practices within an organization.
The instructor for this series is Matt Penna, an award-winning art director with over 25 years of experience in UX design.
The first session will focus on “Planning and Conducting Usability Studies.”
Participants will first understand the differences between qualitative and quantitative research methods and learn the characteristics of each. Next, they will identify when to use exploratory, evaluative, and generative research, and understand which methods are suitable for various situations.
The session will also cover how to clearly define research goals, objectives, and key questions. Detailed explanations will be provided on screening, incentives, and logistics for effectively recruiting usability test participants. Additionally, participants will learn how to create a research plan that includes timelines, budgets, and resources.
The session will touch on both moderated and unmoderated methods, introducing specific techniques such as interviews, usability tests, and surveys. Finally, the use of tools and platforms for remote and in-person research will be explained.
